Taking part in Survivor- the Real African Outback was just one of the activities thatchallenged new students at Monash's South Africa campus duringorientation.

About 83 new students will study at the South Africacampus this year, with most taking part in the university's orientationactivities.

The students took part in activities aimed at giving theman overview of campus facilities and a taste of university life.

Theyalso enjoyed other activities including a drumming workshop, consistingof 65 African Jembe drums, which could be heard throughout thecampus.

But the highlight for students was the Survivor game, in whichstudents were divided into groups and asked to complete a number ofchallenges, including a hula hoop contest, a basketball game, riding amechanical bull and a blind-folded water run.

The winning team, the DeWits, was awarded the O Mighty Ones trophy.
