Ms Brownyn Shields has been appointed academic registrar of the Faculty of Business and Economics. She was previously deputy registrar in the Faculty of Science. Ms Shields will take up her new appointment on 3 August.
Mr Peter Lawford has been appointed registrar in the Faculty of Education. He was previously an executive officer in the Language and Communication Services unit of RMIT's Faculty of Education. Mr Lawford took up his position in June.
The Staff Handbook revisions relating to the new provisions in the Monash University Enterprise Agreement (Trades & Services General Staff) 1997 have now been updated on the web.

In the last issue of Monash Memo, the following was announcement appeared:
The Australian Industrial Relations Commission has certified
the
Monash University Enterprise Bargaining Agree-ment for academic and general
staff.
Deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and Planning) Professor Alan
Lindsay said he would like to
thank all staff for their patience during the longer-than-anticipated approval
process.
"This means that all staff covered by this agreement can now
receive
their well-earned salary increases," Professor Lindsay said.
It is expected that the 6% increase and the 4% increase will
appear in the 16 July 1998 pay,
with the backpay and super-annuation adjustments to occur in the following pay
of 30 July 1998.
A series of articles on the major provisions of the agreement,
such as management
of annual leave, will appear in future editions of Monash Memo.
