Gillian Bruce, manager of the Disability Liaison Office and executive
officer of the university's Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities,
is to be seconded for one year in the role of Victorian Regional Disability
Liaison officer. This DEETYA-funded position located at Deakin University
will focus on the coordination and development of programs which facilitate
return-to-study or transition from secondary school to tertiary education
for people with disabilities throughout Victoria.
Ms Annette Rudd is to be appointed acting manager of the Disability
Liaison Office. She will be available from 27 July to provide information
and advice to staff on equity matters for students with disabilities. Contact

Ms Bronwyn Shields is leaving the Faculty of Science to take up the
position of academic registrar of the Faculty of Business and Economics. Anyone

Mr Adrian Polglase has been appointed professor of surgery in the
Faculty of Medicine at Monash, in conjunction with Melbourne's Cabrini Hospital.
This is the first professorial appointment in Victoria's private medical sector,
and one of the first in Australia.
Associate Professor Zenon Pudlowski, director of the Monash-based
UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education, received the degree
of Honorary Doctorate of Technology from Scotland's Glasgow Caledonian University
earlier this month. The degree was awarded in recognition of his achievements
in engineering and engineering education, in particular in a global context.
