Once again, Monash University Library staff have received recognition by winning ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) Awards for Innovation in Victoria.
Ms Georgina Binns and Mr Andrew Harrison won an award in the Academic category for the new Monash Lectures Online Project, a new service that is replacing the taped lecture service.
The service, which delivers a digital recording of lectures via the web to any multimedia capable PC, is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any personal computer with an Internet connection.
The system is password protected and only available to enrolled Monash students and staff. Monash Lectures Online is currently recording 46 subjects and can be found at http://audio.monash.edu.au/mlo/
Mr Nick Pengelley won an award in the Law Libraries Division for producing a web-based Guide to Researching International Law.
The guide deals with the increasingly important and complex area of international law. It is aimed at students and researchers new to the area as well as more experienced international law researchers wishing to familiarise themselves with the burgeoning electronic, and particularly Internet-based, resources now available.
The guide addresses both traditional print and newer Internet and online resources, and is continually updated as circumstances and new developments warrant.
The awards were presented at a function in Yarraville recently to celebrate Australian Library Week.
