Jenny Allen

As a coordinator and teacher of honours students in the Department of Design, senior lecturer Jenny Allen has seen many changes during her 14 years at Caulfield campus.

These include the merger of Chisholm with Monash in 1990, the upgrading of the School of Art and Design to faculty status in 1998, and the construction of the new faculty building, which Jenny says is "a manifestation of where art and design is going".

Most recently, Jenny was seconded to the Sunway Campus in Malaysia for four months to investigate the introduction of proposed courses in graphic design and multimedia.

"It was a wonderful experience to be involved in the establishment of a new Monash campus in an international context," Jenny said. "I also made some great contacts while I was there."

Back in Australia, Jenny is preparing to market the Faculty of Art and Design as a national centre for education, research and community service. She says she hopes to return to Malaysia in October to help recruit students.

"My biggest challenge at the moment is to adjust to all the recent changes, and to develop my research profile at the same time," she said.
