Two Monash students were last week announced as joint recipients of the 1999 Australian Humanitarian Foundation Young Australian Award.
Final-year Arts/Law student Alison Hardacre and third-year medicine student Damien Polioudakis received their awards for "making a significant contribution to the well-being of others".
Alison, who is president of the Monash International Law Students Association, spends up to 40 hours per week on community work.
As well as helping look after his family, Damien spends any spare time he has working as a first-aid volunteer at local events and at the footie at Waverley Park.
