Farewell Peter Annal

Director of IT Facilities, Information Technology Services Mr Peter Annal will be leaving Monash at the end of October after 17 years' service to the university.

Mr Annal joined Monash in late 1982 and since then has overseen many major advances in IT networking and infrastructure.

During his time at Monash, Mr Annal has served several committees and was a member of Academic Board for about 10 years.

To farewell Mr Annal and acknowledge his achievements at Monash, a function will be held on Thursday 14 October, from 4 pm to 5.30 pm, in the West Wing Banquet Hall, Clayton campus.

Any of Mr Annal's colleagues who would like to attend should email ITS executive officer Mr Dennis Wheeler at dennis.wheeler@its.monash.edu.

Export award to Monash

Monash last week won an award in the education category of the 1999 Governor of Victoria Export Awards as a significant provider of tertiary education in Asia and a strong advocate of global networking.

The award recognises that Monash has an increased demand for its overseas courses and has seen nearly 13 per cent growth in exports over the past year, earning the university more than $64 million.

The awards aim to identify and honour the success of Victorian exporters across all sectors of business. They promote the importance of exports to the growing Victorian economy.

Monash is now automatically entered as a finalist in the 1999 Australian Export Awards, to be announced by the Prime Minister, the Hon. John Howard in Melbourne on 1 December.
