Parkville-based Kellie McConnell not only works at Monash as an administrative secretary, she has also studied at three of its campuses.
Kellie's experience at Monash stems from her high school years, when she worked on a casual basis for the university during the holidays. On finishing school, she studied the first year of her Bachelor of Arts at Gippsland campus and then took a year off to work.
Deciding she liked the work/study mix, Kellie transferred to Peninsula campus in 1992 to study part time while working full time. In 1993 she was employed at the Victorian College of Pharmacy as a maternity-leave replacement and has worked at the college ever since. And to add to her multi-campus experience, she completed her degree at Caulfield, majoring in psychology.
In 1996, Kellie was appointed administrative secretary to Pharmacy dean Professor Colin Chapman. In addition she supervises the college's reception and coordinates the undergraduate student mentor scheme. While working at Parkville, she has also undertaken a graduate diploma in applied psychology at Victoria University, and hopes to become an organisational psychologist.
Outside of work, Kellie enjoys travelling and has visited South Africa and Europe. Back home in Melbourne she enjoys socialising with friends, working out at the gym and playing tennis.
