The LOCATE Classification Scheme has been developed at Monash to promote the consistent classification of the university's business information. The Retention and Disposal Authority is based on this Classification Scheme.
In the Classification Scheme you will find:
- Functions - the broadest unit of business
performed within the university
- Activity Descriptors - major tasks or areas of service undertaken within each function
- Subject Descriptors - topics addressed within functions/activities
For each term, the Classification Scheme shows:
- Scope Notes - notes that provide guidance on the use of a term
- Broader Terms - terms at a higher level
- Narrower Terms - terms at a lower level
- Related Terms - similar terms at the same level
- Use - approved terms used to identify and save documents
- Non-preferred Terms - other terms, not to be used to identify and save documents
