Difficult family circumstances
This category is for applicants who have experienced difficult family circumstances on a long-term basis which have significantly disadvantaged their education over an extended period.
Some examples of long-term difficult family circumstances are:
- abusive living environment including dealing with alcoholism or drug addiction
- carer responsibilities (ill children, parent, siblings etc.)
- circumstances affecting the family's financial situation
- crowded living conditions
- death of parent/guardian/relative/close friend/classmate/teacher
- disruption of education due to contact relocation
- excessive family responsibilities
- homelessness due to severe family discord
- recent refugee
- medical illness of a close relative or friend
- natural disaster
- parents separation or divorce
- relationship breakdown with significant other
- supporting a family member or friend
- victim of crime
- working in order to support the family financially
Applicants applying under this category must submit supporting documentation.
