Matthew Peck Travelling Scholarship
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:
-
an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa, or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa, and
-
a continuing full-time undergraduate student enrolled in your third or fourth year of the Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce at a Monash campus in Australia, and
-
intending to participate in an international health development program in a developing country.
Selection criteria
Awarded based upon personal attributes, community participation, leadership qualities and an ability to act independently. Consideration will be given to students’ academic achievement. Students must have achieved a minimum of a credit weighted average mark (60 per cent) in their most recent 48 credit points of study in Pharmacy units.
Students should demonstrate commitment and motivation through participation in their community, school or local organisations, and have an understanding of international health issues and a motivation to make a contribution in the area of international health.
Applicants must be available for an interview.
Travel program
The recipient will be mentored before departure and in the field with a pharmacist and will make a contribution to the program. Applicants are encouraged to consider projects in the Asia/Pacific region. The scholarship is not intended to fund further study, nor is it available for travel to countries with Federal Government or Monash University travel restrictions. The scholarship excludes participation in emergency and disaster relief programs.
Students must present a written report and oral presentation with photos within one month of their return, and be prepared to participate in publicity and fundraising opportunities.

Deferability
Recipients are allowed to defer their program of travel due to unforeseen health or personal reasons or changed local conditions.
