Rural and Remote Clinical Placement Bursaries

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
• a continuing undergraduate student in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences, and
• undertaking a Faculty approved clinical placement in a rural or remote area of Australia or overseas in 2009, and 
• from one or more of the following Monash University's defined equity or personal disadvantage groups:
  • people of Australian Indigenous descent
  • people from rural and isolated areas
  • people experiencing low socio-economic circumstances
  • people with a disability or long term medical condition
  • people from a non-English-speaking background.

Selection Criteria

Awarded based on a combination of academic performance at Monash and need. Students must demonstrate in their application the estimated travel and accommodation costs, and loss of paid employment whilst undertaking the placement.

Applicants must not hold a John Flynn Scholarship, or have any other financial support for placement accommodation/travel in a rural or remote area from their course.

Value

$2,500 one-off payment.
