Monash Sakata Scholarships
Monash University Sakata Scholarships are new scholarships funded by Sakata Holdings Pty Ltd, for undergraduate students studying Japanese in 2010.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:
-
an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
-
a continuing Monash undergraduate student who has completed a minimum of 24 credit points towards a Japanese major or equivalent, eg. Diploma in Languages (Japanese), and
-
intending to ennrol in a Japanese major in 2010 at a Monash campus in Australia or at an exchange partner university.
Selection criteria
Awarded to the highest achieving eligible students based on their weighted average mark in Japanese units achieved as part of their major in Japanese, and demonstration of their commitment to and knowledge of Japanese culture. Students may be interviewed if necessary.
Value
-
$5000 per annum for a maximum of one year only for students undertaking a study tour or exchange in Japan*, or
-
$3000 per annum for a maximum of one year only for students studying Japanese at a Monash campus in Australia.
* Available to students that have not received other travel grants for their study tour or exchange.

Three to four.
Retention
Recipients must maintain enrolment in Japanese units and a credit weighted average mark (60 per cent) in all units in semester one.
Deferability
This scholarship cannot be deferred.
