Monash Sport Scholarships

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or
• an international student, and
• a commencing or continuing undergraduate or postgraduate student enrolled at a Monash campus in Australia*, and
• involved in a non-professional sport, as recognised by Monash Sport.

* Includes students enrolled at Monash College.

Students must not be in receipt of regular payments from other funding bodies for playing their sport.

Selection criteria

Students should be competing regularly in their sport, at the highest level in their state, or above.

Scholarships will be awarded based on:

• representation of Monash University in their Sport (eg Club, Australian University Games)
• the students performance in their elected sport
• the level at which the sport is played.

Value and number available

$200 – $5000 one-off payment, and/or a Monash Sport gym membership, and/or contribution to Monash Residential Services accommodation. This is dependent on the sport, the level the sport is played at, and the funding available.

Retention

Recipients must maintain satisfactory sporting performance, as determined by Monash Sport and the athlete's Monash sporting club. In addition, recipients must regularly represent Monash University in their sport and participate in the Australian University Games.

Deferability

This scholarship can be deferred in exceptional circumstances only for up to one semester.
