Means and Inequalities. The notions of arithmetic, geometric and harmonic means (of positive real numbers) can be traced back to Pythagoras himself. Some of the greatest mathematicians in history worked on establishing an order for these means. Many variations of the notion of a mean have since been introduced. This project proposes to investigate inequalities that exist between the many of these. |
