Vacation scholarships aim to:
-
provide students with experience in an area of research
-
provide students with an insight into future opportunities in the area of research
-
encourage and attract high quality students interested in pursuing a career in research and/or academia.
Recipients partake in research-related activities in the department offering the scholarship, and will be matched to a specific project, which will run over either the winter or summer break. Applications are invited from undergraduates interested in furthering their studies via an honours program, or who are considering a career in research for the primary purpose of furthering their education.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:

an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or
-
an international student, and
-
enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an Australian Higher Education provider, and
-
normally have completed at least the second year of an undergraduate degree, and
-
not an employee of Monash University.
* Students must be enrolled full-time in the semester preceding and the semester following the vacation scholarship.
Selection criteria
Awarded to the highest achieving students based on grade average. Applicants will be matched to projects available, and must also have completed any pre-requisite units specified for the project.
Note: Students interested in vacation scholarships in the Faculty of Engineering must be in their penultimate year and have a minimum of a high distinction weighted average mark (80 per cent).
Value and number available
Variable, depending on the faculty and the available funding.
Applications
Winter vacation scholarships will NOT be offered in 2009.
Applications for summer vacation scholarships open 20 July 2009.
The application dates for projects will vary. Further information will be available on the website on 20 July.
