Zone 18 OHSE Committee

The Zone 18 OHSE Committee co-ordinates Occupational Health, Safety and Environment management in this zone, which includes

  • The Administration Precinct (buildings 3A-E)
  • Monash House (building 65),
  • The old Monyx building (16 Miles Street, Mulgrave)
  • Units of the Student and Community Services Division located in building 10
  • VTAC (40 Park Street, South Melbourne)
  • The OHSE unit (currently located on floor 7S of the Menzies Building)

This page provides information on OHSE procedures, papers of the Zone Committee, and relevant links for staff in the zone.

If you are uncertain of who holds OHSE roles (Emergency Evacuation Wardens, Safety Officers, First Aid Co-ordinators, Environmental Officers and Green Office Reps) in your area of the zone, see staff with OHSE roles in Zone 18.

Staff holding these roles can find full information on their responsibilities and training needed for these roles, at the university's OHSE webpage.

What's new

Consulting staff about Workplace Representatives

The zone committee has asked Safety Officers to consult staff in their unit about how they perceive the need for Workplace Representatives. What are these? The zone currently has two vacancies for this important role.

Now - figures on power, water

Reducing our consumption of power and water is now a strategic objective of the university. Figures on consumption in 2006 and 2007 are now available for most buildings in OHSE Zone 18.

Did you know...?

Feeling too hot . . . too cold?

A frequent complaint to OHSE staff is that an area of a building is too hot or too cold for comfort. Before you complain, have a read of the new information sheet on Indoor Thermal Comfort, issued by the OHSE Unit.

At the last zone committee meeting it was suggested that if you're experiencing extremes of heating or cooling you should bring in a room thermometer and record temperatures so you can provide details to Facilities and Services.

OHSE induction course is to be repeated

All Monash staff are meant to re-view the online safety induction course every three years? This is because OHSE policy and procedures change over time. Please re-view this excellent course and include it in your unit's professional development register, so it will be recorded for your documentation of OHSE compliance.

Zone Committee

The table below gives the meeting dates, agendas and minutes of the Zone 18 OHSE Committee. Any staff member is welcome to suggest items for the committee agenda: please submit these by emailing Kai.Jensen@adm.monash.edu.au or phoning Kai on ext. 58849 by the agenda deadline in the table.

Managers of units in the zone should ensure that the committee minutes are posted on an OHSE noticeboard in your work area.

For safety officers, building wardens and other committee members, see committee membership.
