Travel Concessions

Application forms for a Victorian Public Transport Student Concession Card will now be mailed to all eligible students in February prior to the start of semester. You will need to take this form to one of the “issuing locations” listed on the back of the form to purchase your new concession card.

If you lose your form or fail to receive one and believe that you are eligible, they can be obtained from the Student Service Centre on any campus or by applying on line via the Web Enrolment System WES (Web Enrolment System)

Transport Concession forms will only be given to students who meet the eligibility criteria as stipulated by the Victorian Public Transport Authority. The criteria states that all students must be:

  • A citizen or permanent resident of Australia or attending a School / College / Institution as part of an approved overseas exchange program or a student with a refugee status
  • Attending a School / College / Institution registered with the Victorian Department of Education and listed in the Victorian Public transport Approved List of Schools and Tertiary Institutions' book
  • Pursuing a normal course of study (primary, secondary or tertiary) at a School / College / Institution on a full-time basis as shown in the approved list of Schools and Tertiary Institutions Book
  • Enrolled in a course recognised for Austudy purposes and listed in the Victorian Public Transport "Approved List of Schools and Tertiary Institutions book (NB: Tertiary students enrolled in a short course of between 10 and 20 weeks may only obtain a Half Yearly Tertiary Concession Card)

Students are NOT eligible to obtain a student concession card if they are:

  • Overseas students who are not exchange students or students with refugee status
  • Overseas full-fee paying students
  • Attending a School / College / Institution on a part-time basis
  • Enrolled in a Masters degree or PhD course
  • Enrolled in a course that is not registered by the Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs (DETYA) for Austudy purposes
  • Enrolled in a tertiary course the duration of which is less than 10 weeks
  • An external off campus or correspondence student or students not attending a School / Institution on a regular and full time basis
  • Enrolled in an apprenticeship course
