Governance of ICT

The Shared Services Project recommended the following staffing and Governance structure:

The establishment of a Vice Chancellor's Committee dedicated to ICT - the VCG (ICT) - which will be responsible for the coordination and integration of ICT service delivery and planning in relation to education, research, administration and infrastructure across all faculties and the University as a whole, and strategic governance of whole-of-university ICT, including (but not limited to) planning, policy approval, project and portfolio management, prioritisation of investment, innovation pathways and ICT service offerings;

  • The creation of a Chief Information Officer (CIO) role with responsibility for ITS, engagement of faculties, divisions and campuses, and Shared Services implementation;
  • The creation of two new positions reporting to the CIO - a Director of Faculty, Division and Campus ICT Coordination and a Project Director for the Shared Services Implementation; and
  • Dual reporting arrangements for Faculty and Campus IT Managers to ensure that faculties and campuses have a clear voice in whole-of-university ICT strategy and planning and to ensure consistent implementation of whole-of-university ICT standards and policies.
