Disability Contact Officer Network for Staff (DCO)

DCO's are available within Faculty/Divisions to provide confidential advice/information, to staff with a disability and/or chronic medical condition, regarding the provision of reasonable adjustments to work practices under the Staff Disability Policy. Staff can also approach a DCO for information regarding University support services.

DCO's can assist staff with:

  • a confidential contact to discuss issues regarding reasonable accommodations in the workplace
  • referral to the Disability Liaison Unit (DLU) for disability specific information/advice on the provision of reasonable adjustments in the workplace
  • referral to other support services such as Discrimination and Harassment Adviser and Community Services
  • requests under the Staff Disability Policy for reasonable adjustments. For example adaptive software and ergonomic equipment
  • approaching supervisors regarding staff issues related to disability/chronic medical conditions
  • raising systemic issues at faculty/divisional meetings and committees.
