25 Year Service Award
Introduction
Monash University recognises and rewards staff through the 25 Year Service Award. Staff who have worked at the university for at least 25 years will be honoured at a ceremony in July 2010.
Medallists will include staff in teaching, research and administration who have become members of Monash University, after mergers with the former Chisholm Institute of Technology, the former Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education and the Victorian College of Pharmacy. Each medallist will be awarded a silver medallion which is hand engraved.
The ceremony will be held on 16 July 2010 and will mark the thirteenth occasion at which medals have been presented to staff. The first presentation was made by the Duke of Edinburgh in May 1986 as part of the university's Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Monash Chancellor Dr Alan Finkel AM will present the awards, which will also be attended by the Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Edward Byrne AO.
Process
Potential medallist recipients will be identified by December 2009.
Assistance in the verification of nominated medallists will be required by the relevant faculty or divisions.
The nomination process is based on assessment of recorded evidence of 25 years of service. Each eligible staff member is then listed for an award.
Verification from the faculties/divisions of the 25 Year Service must be received by 3.00pm Monday 18 January 2010.
Eligibility
All staff with 25 years fixed term or tenured service in aggregate to Thursday 31 December 2010.
Selection Criteria
Medals will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria. Fixed term or tenured service with Monash and its antecedent organisations is included for recognition of length of service.
