Travelling Fellowship Awards for General Staff

Overview

The Monash Mobility Framework has been developed in response to the identification of staff mobility as one of the University's annual priorities.  As a result, Travelling Fellowship Awards for General Staff are now being offered to enhance opportunities for general staff to participate in professional development in Australia or overseas. 

It consists of a central fund for selected general staff to travel and participate in professional development opportunities.  Each award consists of a maximum of $4000 (AUD) and may be used to reimburse expenses such as travel costs, accommodation and or conference registration.  The fellowships will operate initially for one year, commencing at the beginning of July 2007.

 

Eligibility of applications

Expressions of interest will be sought from all general staff from all Monash University campuses with the following qualifying conditions:

  • on a continuing, tenured or fixed term position appointment of at least 0.6 fraction
  • have completed at least twenty four months (2 years) of continuous service by the commencement date of the award
  • has a current current employment contract with Monash University that extends beyond the Travelling Fellowships Award end date
  • a maximum total absence of no more than 6 weeks from substantive position arising from the Travelling Fellowship Awards
  • evidence of supporting statements from the relevant Head of School/Department/Administrative Unit

 

Selection criteria

Preference will be given to those applications that meet the following criteria:

  • relevance of the identified professional development activity to the applicant’s current position at the university
  • the identified professional development activity being linked to the annual performance and career development plan
  • identify the overall benefits of the professional development opportunity for the applicant, the department and the university
  • specific mobility experience that will be gained through this opportunity.

Successful applicants will undertake an identified professional development opportunity relevant to their position which could include one of or a combination of the following:

  • attendance at a specific training course, workshop and or conference either in Australia or overseas
  • attendance at above, accompanied by work experience at one or several universities
  • a program of visits to a number of universities, colleges or government and private organisations either in Australia or overseas
  • any combination of the above

Completed applications to be mailed to Staff Development by 5.00 pm Monday 9 July 2007.
