Overview
This practical course aims to provide participants with the key skills and knowledge to lead and participate in meetings which are effective, efficient and enjoyable. It covers the essential steps to establish good process and the skills necessary for participants to effect the direction and content as the meeting progresses. Roles and responsibilities, issues of power, common problems and solutions are included.
Intended Outcomes
- Knowledge and skills of meetings process, including planning, roles, goals, approach, decision-making, etc
- Skills: assertion, redirecting, clarification, negotiation and their uses
- Skills of establishing effective process with participation and ownership from group members
- Understanding of common meeting problems, reasons for their occurrence, their prevention and possible solutions (eg. conflict, domination, hidden agendas, passivity)

- Meeting process: setting it up constructively
- Meeting dynamics: positive and negative, why and how they occur
- Roles and skills of the chair and participants
- Skills for being heard and effecting outcomes, problems and their solutions
