Target group:Academic and general staff who are interested in learning how to use Microsoft Access 2003 to create and manipulate databases
Group size:Minimum 5 - Maximum 12
Level 2 program:
  • Completion of Access module 1 and/or some experience in building an Access database

Overview

Access module 2 is for the more experienced user of Access . The course re-visits all elements of Access module 1 with focus on advanced interface usage.

To further develop Access database skills

Course Content

On completion of this course participants will be able to

  • understand table and query relationships and how they affect the integrity of your data
  • create aggregated queries
  • create action queries to make tables, update, append and delete records
  • create a form using Design View
  • create sophisticated forms with tab controls and sub-forms
  • produce reports with calculations
  • create a Crosstab query to analyse data in a table or query
  • create simple macros
  • use conditions in macros
  • create macros that are used with forms
  • create a macro for an option group to provide instant filtering
  • create and maintain multiple copies of a database file
  • protect your database files against unauthorised access
  • completely secure a database file and its objects so that unauthorised access is prevented
