Overview

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to group and link your information and explore it through ‘find’ features, queries, models and charts. Presenting your information in reports is also covered. Time is allocated to discuss efficient node hierarchies and structures and you will also practice what you’ve learnt in your own project.

Intended Outcomes

At the end of this workshop, you should be able to use NVivo 8 effectively.

This workshop follows on from the Nvivo 8 Fundamentals which helps you to get started with Nvivo.

• Strategies for creating nodes
• Building efficient node hierarchies

Relationship nodes
• Creating and defining relationship types
• Creating and coding to relationship nodes

• Memo links and see also links
• Connecting from project items to external data

Grouping and exploring your data
• Sets
• Finding project items – simple, advanced and grouped find
• Saving find results
• Queries, including word frequency queries, coding queries, matrix coding queries and compound queries
• Saving queries and storing your results

Visualization: models and charts
• Building a model
• Introducing the Chart Wizard
• Creating two and three dimensional charts
• Printing or exporting a chart or model

Reporting
• Generating a range of summary reports
