Staff who are experienced in leading and chairing and
who want to heighten their abilities to increase meeting effectiveness
and to recognise and solve complex and controversial issues. |

Assumes staff have some background and experience in
the area. This program aims to extend skills and knowledge so
that staff can tackle real problems they have encountered and apply
their learning at an advanced level. |

Overview
This course is for experienced people ready to enhance their skills
and techniques to better meet the more complex issues involved in leading
effective, time-efficient, outcome-oriented meetings. The course uses
case studies to illustrate and then examine and diagnose the psychological
and practical aspects of the meeting process. Various methods will be
covered for tackling controversial aspects, influencing and directing
content and outcomes, confronting and resolving difficulties and establishing
commitment. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own situations
for discussion.

- Confidence in understanding, diagnosing and effecting group dynamics and results
- Ability to assess and take action on advanced level issues and problems
- Confidence in tackling important or controversial topics or behaviour
- Skills for leading meetings in which participants take on
responsibility and commitment for outcomes and process
Content
- Advanced group dynamic skills - diagnosis, resolution, direction and managing
- Assessment and selection of techniques for difficult situations
- Methods for establishing commitment and ownership
- Use of informal and formal roles to maintain boundaries of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour
- Skills for leading meetings in which participants take on responsibility and commitment for outcomes and process
