Overview
This highly interactive program has been designed to assist staff in managing financial responsibilities by covering the basic concepts of financial management, sharing best practice and attempting to tackle participant's specific challenges. Please note this is not SAP training
Intended Outcomes
To increase skills and knowledge of Monash Staff in financial management and Monash's financial processes.
Course Content
The session will include discussion, information and case studies covering the areas of:
- Basic financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow)
- A review of Monash University's current financial position
- Cash flow management
- How funds flow through the University and the strategic costing model
- Activity based costing
- Monash budgeting processes and reports
- Basic Monash University terminology and financial management
Learning Approach
The workshop will be delivered using a combination of methods including theoretical sessions, discussion and exercises.
Handouts
A comprehensive set of course notes will be provided and calculators will be available for use throughout the course.
Participants Note
Participants are asked to bring along an example of a financial report from their area. These reports are required for one of the exercises during the program.
