Overview

This series is specifically designed for staff new to the role of supervisor or team leader and those who recognise the need to refresh their skills for leading a team. Emphasis will be placed on improving personal competence and developing strategies for managing and supervising individuals and teams. To maximise the transfer of learning back to the work place, participants, in partnership with their supervisors, will identify skills and behaviours required to achieve work unit and individual goals for each participant. Using a Learning Map, these will be plotted to ensure alignment between learning and real work based outcomes. Participants will also be expected to complete an action learning project relevant to their work place that will be reviewed at a follow-up workshop after the completion of the 5 module program.

Intended Outcomes

The program will cover areas such as distinguishing the difference between leadership and management, working with a team, the role of managers and leaders, communication and effective people management skills. These skills will be useful for assisting individual as well as team development
