Overview

The program will enable participants to gain personal competence in the management of organisational conflict. It will also provide a framework for addressing problems on how to deal more effectively with various situations in the workplace.

Intended Outcomes

  • Being able to understand alternative points of view
  • Understand and assess one’s reactions to conflict situations
  • Being open to hear and act on new information
  • Identify suitable responses to defuse conflict

  • Explore strategies to resolve critical management and supervisory dilemmas

Course Content

  • Effective techniques for dealing with difficult people and situations
  • Awareness of how people’s attitudes and actions impact on others
  • Tools for checking perceptions and creating a safe environment
  • How to ask questions effectively
  • A guide on how to have an effective conversation

Learning Approach

The program will incorporate discussions practical input and skill practice and strategies. Participants will work in teams using an action learning methodology.

A comprehensive set of workshop notes and other materials will be distributed showing all content areas as well as activities and exercise.
