Includes online theory component covering First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis, which must be completed prior to the practical day or else participants will be unable to attend.

Overview

These sessions will allow first aiders to refresh their CPR and defibrillation skills under the supervision of a First Aid Trainer and also includes First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis. First aiders are required to participate in a CPR Refresher every twelve months.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants names will be added to SAP which will only be accessible to authorised Monash University staff members.

Intended Outcomes

First aiders to be able to perform CPR in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Guidelines (ARC).

Course Content

  • Respond to signs of an unconscious casualty.
  • Perform CPR
  • Use of a defibrillator
  • Communicate details of the incident
  • Includes First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis.  Online training will cover the theory component of First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis and should take no more than 20 minutes.  Practical day will cover the practical skills.

Learning Approach

This program is focused on active participation. It involves progressive practical assessment and a multiple choice assessment.

Handouts and Materials

During courses, participants will have the use of resource manuals, and manikins on a ratio of a maximum of 1 manikin per 3 participants.

All participants will receive course notes and a certificate.
