Student Project Safety (Cryogenics)

(Postgrad & Honours Induction)

Overview

This training is targeted to 3rd year, Honours and PhD studetns and is a part of the student project safety induction program. The course outlines safe work practices for the use of cryogenics within laboratories. The session should be completed by all students intending to use cryogenics as part of their project work. It is important this training is completed prior to commencement of work. The training is available at the beginning of each semester, Jan-April, and June-July.

To organise training

A Faculty representative will contact the relevant Faculty OHS Consultants/Advisors to arrange a suitable date & time. The Faculty representative will email Staff.Development@monash.edu prior to the training with the following details.

  • Cryogenics and their properties
  • Hazards
  • PPE
  • Local security and isolation
  • Pressurized vessels and dispensing systems
  • Storage and ventilation
  • Transport
  • Spills and emergency response
