Overview

The purpose of this course is to provide the participants with the skills to undertake effective safety inspections.

The course covers the proactive identification of hazards and the development of appropriate corrective actions for the major workplace environments at Monash.

Intended Outcomes

Participant should be able to identify hazards in the workplace and understand the control hierarchy to eliminate or lessen the risk.  Participant's should be able to use the Monash University documentation and record workplace inspections using Monash Documentation.

Course Content

  • proactive identification of hazards
  • development of appropriate corrective actions for major workplace environments at Monash
  • undertake safety inspections using simple techniques and tools
  • present their findings  back to the group

 

Learning Approach

Lecture format reinforcing through the use of examples and discussion of local workplace hazards and mitigation using Monash systems and the hierarchy of control.  A mock inspection of a local area.
