Overview
This one day workshop focuses on the development of knowledge and expertise in the implementation and maintenance of effective performance management.
The experiential approach provides for a fully interactive program, which introduces the context and components of the Performance Management Scheme for Professional Staff, develops knowledge and skills in the writing of performance plans and career goals and skills in performance evaluation and review.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants' names will be added to the Monash website list of trained staff in Performance Management for professional staff supervisors http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/staff-development/ws/pms/gen/trained-general-supervisors.xls This website will only be accessible to Monash University staff members.
Intended Outcomes
On completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Outline the context, objectives and key components of the Performance Management Scheme for Professional Staff HEW 1-10
- Know how to meet the requirements of the Enterprise Agreement 2005
- Write their own development and performance plan and assist staff they supervise to develop their individual plans
- Engage more confidently in the exchange of feedback at the various stages of the performance management cycle
- Apply principles for giving and receiving constructive, positive and negative feedback

- Overview of the Monash University Performance Management Scheme for Professional Staff
- The Annual Planning Cycle
- Introducing the components of The Performance Plan
- Writing the Performance Plan: responsibilities, duties, goals, targets and timelines
- Evidence of achievement - the Progress Report/ self assessment
- Effective communication strategies for use during performance review
