PD classification and evaluation

Target group:This program is designed for supervisors and/or staff serving as members of Position Description Classification Committees at faculty/divisional level.
Group size:Maximum of 16
Level 1-2 program:

Suitable for staff with limited experience, for staff wishing to refresh their skills or for more experienced staff.

Participants will need to work with the new position description format and will preferably have already completed the PD and classification proposal writing training program.

Overview

The process of classifying and reclassifying positions at HEW levels 1-7 has been de-centralised and is now the responsibility of faculties and divisions within the University. This program is designed to provide participants with the required knowledge and skills to be an effective committee member in the classification process. Participants will need to work with the new position description format and, when required, the position classification proposal form. They will preferably have already completed the PD and classification proposal writing program.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants' names will be added to the Monash website list of trained Position Description Evaluators http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/sss/classifications/trained-evaluators.html   This website will only be accessible to Monash University staff members.

Intended Outcomes

  • Knowledge of the different stages and processes involved in the classification process 
  • An understanding of the role of a classification committee member
  • Knowledge of the seven different classification categories HEW levels 1-7
  • An understanding of the differences in HEW levels in terms of each of the seven categories
