| Target group: | All staff involved in the recruitment process at Monash. |
| Group size: | Maximum of 16 |
| Level 1 program: | Suitable for staff with limited experience or staff wishing to refresh their skills or those staff new to Monash who wish to understand the Monash view of recruitment.
This workshop will cover the stages from identifying the need for recruitment through to short-listing of candidates.
To be eligible to serve as a chair or member of a selection panel at Monash, staff must complete the Staff Selection excellence workshop. |

Overview
This one day module is aimed at staff involved in the recruitment process.
This module explores contemporary approaches and issues associated with recruitment and outlines the key stages in the recruitment process at Monash University.
Intended Outcomes
- An understanding of the importance of recruitment and the major issues associated with the process
- Skills in the key stages of the recruitment process
- Ability to comply with Monash specific recruitment policies, procedures and guidelines
Course Content
- Planning an effective recruitment process
- Selection panels
- Job analysis
- Developing selection criteria
- Candidate attraction and sourcing
- Specialist recruitment matters (targeted searches, overseas recruitment, use of recruitment agencies,etc)
- Equal employment opportunity in recruitment
Learning Approach
This module utilises small group work, discussion and presentations to actively engage participants with the content. Participants are encouraged to share previous experiences and learn from each other. Learning is further supported by the use of DVDs and presentations by Monash staff with recruitment expertise.
