Overview
This workshop is designed for administrative staff who need to be familiar with or aware of the University's research ethics and compliance obligations and procedures. The workshop will provide participants with practical information and experience of:
- The University obligations in relation to research ethics and compliance
- Government agencies involved in managing the regulation of activities involving human participants, human embryos, animals and genetically modified organisms
- Relevant guidelines, code of practice and legislation
- How the University managers its obligations; the committees and officers
- The process by which staff and students apply for approval from the relevant committees
Intended Outcomes
An improved understanding of the University's research ethics and compliance obligations and procedures.
Course Content
- Human ethics
- Animal ethics and welfare
- Activity involving genetically modified organisms and ethical principles for biotechnology and gene technology
- Quarantine goods and premises
- Other ethics and compliance issues
Each presentation will be followed with time for questions and discussion.
Handouts
A workbook including notes and relevant information will be provided.
