Overview
A brief introduction to Australian Indigenous people and culture, and to Monash's Indigenous Strategy, with the aim of increasing cultural safety at Monash for all members of the Monash community.
Course Content
On completion participants will have:
- An increased knowledge about Australian Indigenous people including a brief statistical overview and key historical information about Aboriginal people in Victoria;
- An increased awareness of Monash's strategy in relation to Indigenous students, Indigenous staff and our engagement with Indigenous communities;
- Reflected on some common stereotypes, values and assumptions;
- Developed a basic understanding of cultural safety; and
- Enhanced their capacity to contribute to making Monash a culturally-safe environment for all members of the Monash community.
