Policy Title
Conduct and Compliance
Purpose
To enhance the reputation of Monash University through appropriate staff conduct and behaviours and through compliance with relevant legislation.
Supporting Research and Analysis
This policy provides a framework for the implementation of specific rules and standards of conduct for staff.
Developed in consultation with the University’s Australian, Malaysian and South African campuses, this policy supports compliance with the various legislative and employment frameworks utilised across all campuses.
The Monash University Ethics Statement underpins this policy and does not exclude or replace this policy or its related procedures. In the unlikely event of any inconsistency between the Ethics Statement and this policy, the explicit requirements of this policy shall prevail to the extent of any inconsistency.
Scope
This policy applies to:
- all campuses; and
- all staff.
Policy Statement
The University seeks to:
- provide clear and accessible procedures to guide the behaviour of staff;
- raise awareness and increase accessibility of the conduct and compliance policy and procedures;
- provide mechanisms to deal fairly, effectively and efficiently with grievances;
- value and maintain positive relationships with its staff;
- ensure the privacy of personal and health information of its staff;
- meet the needs of the University’s business and strategic objectives;
- comply with relevant legislation and obligations; and
- reinforce and operationalise the values and principles stated in the Monash University Ethics Statement and Monash Directions 2025.
