University visitors and guests

The vision of Monash University as an international University requires engagement with the major ideas and issues of the day 'Monash Directions 2025' at both national and international levels. To facilitate this engagement members of both the national and international community of scholars will be invited to Monash University from time to time as Visiting Academics.

This site has been set up to guide those whose responsibility it is to assist in the bringing of a Visiting Academic to Monash University. This responsibility will include the invitation and payment of these visiting scholars.

Procedure

Step 1 - What to decide before extending an invitation/offer

The decisions made before invitation/offer extended

Step 2 - Approach Visitor

Visiting Academic approached informally by faculty representative (optional)

Step 3 - Request to invite

Department/School provides a Request to Invite/Offer to Appoint a Visiting Academic to Human Resources Division

Step 4 - Send Letter of Invitation/Offer of Appointment

Letter of Invitation/Offer of Appointment and documentation sent to Visiting Academic by Human Resources Division

Step 5 - Visitor accepts offer

Offer accepted and documentation returned to Human Resources Division by visitor (Copy provided to Department/School)

Step 6 - Visitor arrives

Confirmation of Commencement and any other required documentation sent to Human Resources Division (for both invited and appointed visitors)

Step 7 - Visitor provided with Staff Card and remuneration

Visitor provided with:

  • Staff Card
  • remuneration (as per initial instructions of the department/school)
