Remuneration and Benefits

Purpose

To ensure that Monash staff are appropriately remunerated and aware of the terms and conditions under which they are employed.

Supporting Research and Analysis

This policy is inextricably linked to a range of existing Monash procedures and complies with the various regulatory and employment frameworks utilised by Australia, Malaysia and South Africa.

This policy complies with the various legislative and employment frameworks utilised by Australia, Malaysia and South Africa and is designed to enable implementation across all of the University's campuses, both within Australia and internationally.

The Monash University Ethics Statement underpins this policy and does not exclude or replace this policy or its related procedures. In the unlikely event of any inconsistency between the Ethics Statement and this policy, the explicit requirements of this policy shall prevail to the extent of any inconsistency.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • all campuses; and
  • all staff.

Policy Statement

The University seeks to:

  • fulfil its obligation by paying staff accurately and in a timely manner;
  • ensure staff are fairly and equitably remunerated for their work;
  • encourage, recognise and reward high-performance;
  • value the contributions of its staff;
  • manage staff leave entitlements in a way that benefits staff;
  • meet the needs of the University’s business and strategic objectives;
  • comply with relevant legislation and obligations; and
  • reinforce and operationalise the values and principles stated in the Monash University Ethics Statement and Monash Directions 2025.
