Salary matters related to appointment
Date of commencement of paymentCalculation of salary commences from the date of taking up duty at the University. Authorisation to commence paymentSubject to Entry on to payroll below, Monash HR authorised to place new staff members on the payroll on receipt of written certification from the Head of Department or equivalent, or from their nominated delegates, that the appointees have commenced duty and confirmation of the date on which they commenced. This is achieved by forwarding a completed "Confirmation of Commencement of Appointee" form to Monash HR. Entry on to payrollNew staff members, other than those paid on the basis of daily time sheets or on sessional rates, must return a signed copy of their letter of offer of employment confirming acceptance of the offer, together with their banking details, taxation superannuation forms, to Monash HR to complete the requirements for salary payment. Advances on salaryNew members of staff (other than staff holding visiting appointments) may be paid one pay period after one week's service upon written application to the Divisional Director (Monash HR) Staff members on visiting appointments may apply mentioned above for an advance salary payment:
Transfer to a more senior postA staff member transferring to a more highly paid position within the University will commence being paid at a higher salary from the date of commencement specified in the letter of offer. Overlap of service in an appointmentNormally one person only may hold an established position at any one time. A new appointee to a vacancy arising from resignation, retirement, transfer or promotion should not commence earlier than on the day on which the holder vacates the position. If a sufficient case can be made for overlap the Dean, Head of the Administrative Unit, Divisional Director or Faculty Manager may authorise one week, save in exceptional circumstances. |
