Recruitment advertising guidelinesThe requirement to advertise vacant positions:Vacant positions are required to be advertised internally via the Opportunities at Monash website and Monash Memo, and externally via online websites and/or print media in accordance with the following guidelines on the placement of advertisements and with the following exemptions. Advertisement placement should support the objectives of attracting the best person for the job, employing on merit and transparency in recruitment processes in a cost effective manner. Please note that when an appointment is exempt from advertising externally, it will be advertised internally and will only be accessible by current Monash University staff. Monash University reserves the right to make multiple appointments in regard to each advertised position. Placement of advertisementsOnline advertising requirements for General and Academic positions All general and academic staff positions that are advertised externally will be advertised on SEEK during 2007 as part of a partnership agreement. During this trial period, the effectiveness of SEEK job placements will be evaluated, and an opportunity to raise concerns will be provided. All externally advertised positions will be advertised on Monash Opportunities website. Other external websites and/or print media may also be used to attract a competitive field of capable, suitably qualified applicants. SEEK advertisements are placed within classifications, sub- classifications and (in some cases) specialisations. To ensure that your advertisement appears in the appropriate categories, please refer to the 'List of classifications, sub-classifications and specialisations' and note your request(s) on the Request to Advertise form. Multiple categories may be selected at no charge. Print advertising requirements for General and Academic positions All Executive and HEW level 8 and above positions are required to be advertised in print. Where general staff positions are advertised in The Age, they will appear in the Monash University composite advertisement in the Professional section. Executive and HEW Level 10 general staff positions may be placed as a single display advertisement. All academic positions of more than one year must be advertised externally. Level D and E positions are required to be advertised in both national print publications and websites. These positions may also be advertised in international print publications to attract an international field. Professor (Level E) positions may be placed as single display advertisements. Level A, B and C positions are required to be advertised in external websites. Any print advertisements for academic positions must be part of the Monash University composite advertisement in the Higher Education section of the Australian on a Wednesday, or part of the Monash University composite advertisement in the Higher Education section of The Age on a Saturday. Where applicants for academic vacancies are sought from outside academia, positions may be advertised in the relevant professional journal or section of the newspaper. Where a search firm is engaged for a senior position the requirement to use print advertising can be relaxed on the recommendation of the search firm.
