Pre-recruitment

When a job vacancy arises, it is recommended that supervisors undertake some pre-recruitment analysis to assess the work unit's structure and how the role in its existing form fits within the unit's future needs. This will help to determine whether recruitment is necessary.

The pre-recruitment consists of the following steps:

  1. Faculty/divisional planning
  2. Funding positions
  3. Position descriptions
  4. Determine mode and time fraction of appointment
  5. Determine salary and classification
  6. Advertising and filling positions via a competitive process
