Salary rate applicable to leave - definitions

Policy

Ordinary rate of pay

  • 'Ordinary rate of pay' means the salary payable in accordance with the relevant classification.
  • In the case of a staff member aged between 55 years and 65 years with a higher annual rate of pay (excluding a higher duties allowance) and who has subsequently moved or been moved to a lower classification with a lower annual rate of pay during a qualifying period for leave, the rate at which payment shall be made in the period of leave or to be applied in calculating any payment in lieu of leave shall be a rate of pay adjusted to take into account total service in the higher classification and total service in the lower classification during the qualifying period if a change in the fraction worked during a qualifying period for leave occurs in conjunction with a change in classification the rate of pay for the leave is adjusted further.

Pro-rata payment for fractional-time employment

  • Where a staff member is entitled to paid leave and the staff member is employed on a fractional time basis, the staff member shall not by reason of being a fractional-time staff member, be required to serve a longer period of service to qualify for any leave entitlement.
  • Accruals are calculated on a proportional basis according to the hours worked up to a maximum equivalent to full-time ordinary hours.
