Salary Packaging Procedure

Section 1. Salary Packaging

Salary packaging (also referred to as salary sacrificing) is an arrangement between an eligible staff member and the University where the staff member agrees to forego part of their salary or wages and in return receive benefits of the same value from the University or an associated body.

The principal aim of salary packaging is to legitimately restructure the way participating staff receive their salary and potentially maximise their take home pay by reducing their taxable income. To achieve this, staff receive part of their salary in the form of benefits rather than receiving it all as cash.
