Early retirement
A Professor has the option to retire in December of the year in which he/she attains 60 years of age and his/her superannuation rights shall be as provided in University statute 3.6 - Staff superannuation scheme.
If a person wants to retire prior to reaching the age of 60, it is recommended that that person speak with the University's Superannuation Officer in relation to superannuation benefits prior to confirming the early retirement..
Where a voluntary early retirement scheme has operated, staff who have accepted a lump sum payment under the scheme shall not be re-employed save in very exceptional circumstances where occasional casual, sessional, consulting or research work may be arranged after the date of retirement.
Retirement planning and counselling
Early planning for retirement seminars are scheduled for all staff aged 55 years or more, on a periodic basis. Attendance is voluntary. |
